I love this place. Best clubs in Ottawa. The atmosphere is a bit stale (sort of a dark old sports bar type of feel), and their prices are a bit on the high side, but their food is so darn good. My coworker and I split a Club platter (with extra garlic dressing) 2-3 times / month. Owners are very friendly! I was no a fan of their pizza, but that's just my personal taste. Read more

I really enjoy East side Mario's regularly. They usually have a good selection of food, a nice ambiance and speedy service. However, last time i went was during patio season and the amount of flies lying around our indoor table was just awful. I was definitely not impressed. Read more

I've been to this place many times and i admit in the past I've been disappointed. proximity alone kept us going back until recently; There has been a complete change in atmosphere. Over the last Month or so the service has improved as has the food quality! The Servers look like they're happy to be there and genuinely happy to have you there, big smiles and all! Went to this restaurant after watching "You Gotta Eat Here", was our first Poutine ever and it was quite delicious. I ate a fabulous sandwich and my sister said her sandwich was the best vegetarian sandwich she ever had. Desserts looked really appealing but were not as amazing as we expected. If you only have a one hour lunch then this is definitely NOT the place for you to eat at that time. We arrived and it was busy. The place seems cramped but it appearred to be clean. We had reserved a table for noon and waited a while to get seated. When the waitress finally made it to our table we ordered drinks and our food at the same time. It took a long time just to get our drinks and a very long time for our food. It ended up being an hour and a half lunch. Most other restaurants in the area offer a quick lunch so people can get back to work in a timely fashion. This is where The Wood falls drastically short. The food was good, this I will not dispute. By burger was juicy and cooked perfectly and the salad with balsamic dressing was fresh and nice also. Unfortunately the speed of service will have to keep me away from this restaurant. Read more

I came here for lunch a few months ago and was very impressed. We arrived just as the place opened up; the upstairs dining area had not been opened yet. Regardless, I asked if we could have a table on the upper level and the wait staff accommodated our request and opened up the upstairs area and we were given the option to have our choice of any table we wanted. We chose a table on the North side of the restaurant with a great view of the By-ward Market. My burger tasted a little dry but as I had never tried buffalo or bison before I didn't know if that was normal or not. Aside from that the atmosphere was so nice I probably would have even enjoyed a bad meal in that restaurant, sitting where I was. Read more
